CLASS DESCRIPTIONS & DRESS CODES

At Boldt Dance Studio we pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of classes to suit everyone's skill level, style and interests. 

​

Creative Movement: 18 months - 3 years

Mini Movers: 2 - 3 years

Junior - JK - Grade 1

Novice: Grades 2 - 4

Intermediate: Grades 5 - 7

Teen: Grades 8 - 12

​

Adult Sessions - 18 years and up  (these are run in 6 week blocks - check schedule or email to determine if any are running at this time)

ACROBATIC ARTS (Level 2 Acrobatic Arts Certified)

A style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography which blends dance and acrobatics. We are fully Certified from Acrobatic Arts.

Dress Code: Bodysuit and shorts. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face.

BALLET

A widespread, highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology. Classical ballet is the foundation from which many dance styles have developed.

Dress Code: Bodysuit (any colour), tights, ballet shoes. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT

Dancers between the ages of 18 months and 3 years learn dance fundamentals while improving motor skills, self expression, confidence, imagination and social development. This class blends movement, music and basic dance steps while providing an excellent introduction for the future study of dance.

Dress Code: Anything comfortable, bare feet.

JAZZ

A style of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.  â€‹

Dress Code: Bodysuit (any colour), tights. Shorts, capris or pants (no jeans) are permitted. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face.

MODERN

A free, expressive style of dance that focuses on the dancer's own interpretation of music and focuses on the expression of their inner feeling.

Dress Code: Bodysuit (any colour), tights. Shorts, capris or pants (no jeans) are permitted. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face.

INTRO TO DANCE

AERIAL ARTS (Aerial Arts Certified)

Silks & Hoops make up this new style of circus art performing. We offer classes as well as private lessons. We are fully Certified in Aerial Arts.

Dress Code: Capris or long pants and a form fitting shirt. Long sleeve shirts are encouraged. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face. If hair is lengthy, please place in a bun for safety reasons. 

CONTEMPORARY

A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Dress Code: Bodysuit (any colour), tights, shorts are permited. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face.

HIP HOP

A style of dance that evolved from hip hop culture and music. It is the most popular form of street dancing. 

​

Dress Code: Capris or long pants (no jeans), tshirt, indoor non-marking sole shoes. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face.

MINI MOVERS

Dancers between the ages of 2 and 3 years learn Acrobatic Arts fundamentals while improving motor skills, self expression, confidence, imagination and social development.  This class helps to build the fundamentals for future Acrobatic Arts classes.

Dress Code: Anything comfortable, bare feet.

MUSICAL THEATRE

A style of theatrical performance that combines dance with singing and acting. 

​

Dress Code: Anything comfortable, no jeans, bare feet.

TAP

This is a great way to start dancing! We will explore various styles of dance over the course of this program (acro, aerial arts, ballet, hip hop, jazz, etc). Your dancer will be exposed to lots of styles so they know what they like the most! 

​

Dress Code: Anything comfortable, bare feet.

A style of dance wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels along with music. ​

​

Dress Code: Anything comfortable - no jeans, no crop tops. Tap shoes are required - preference is lace up style black tap shoes. Hair must be tightly secured and off the face.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

As a small business, we feel that it's important to give back to our community. We try to support several community agencies in the Brockville area either by volunteering our time, or donations. We also work in partnership with several local community agencies to provide dance to individuals who otherwise might not be offered the opportunity.
